About Us

Barry looks back to January 1991, when he began doing business as Today’s Vacuum Systems, Inc., selling and installing central vacuum systems through builders, home shows, advertising in local newspapers and referrals by satisfied customers.

The business was growing significantly when in 1994 he opened the first showroom in the Windsor Park Shopping Center in Mechanicsburg.

To supplement the Central Vacuum business, Barry added Miele portable vacuums and repairs in addition to premium charcoal, gas and specialty grills from Weber and shortly thereafter Napoleon Grills.

In 1998, Barry changed the name to Today’s Home & Leisure Products, to better describe the business after adding home theater, distributed audio and other low voltage products to the lineup.

Today’s Home & Leisure has evolved into a very successful full service one stop low voltage integrator unlike any other in the area concentrating on service with all work being performed by well qualified and trained employees.

Being in business for over 30 years, Today’s Home & Leisure has come a long way with Michael taking over the estimating and designing of all home theater and home automation projects in addition to many other aspects of this second generation business.

These days you will find Michael’s wife Jennifer in the office taking care of administrative matters and learning all the different aspects of the family business as our administrative assistant.

Their children, Hailey and Braden can sometimes be found lending their assistance in any way that they can.

It is great seeing everyone working together during these times making Michele and I proud parents and grandparents while doing so.

Barry stated that their mission statement is simple and practical, “Today’s Home & Leisure is committed to developing strong lifelong relationships with each of our valued customers built on mutual respect and trust, while providing a level of personalized service not often seen in the industry.”

From the Beginning, through Three Generations

1991

Barry Dobb saw a business opportunity upon moving to Central PA. The area lacked central vacuum system sales and service, so he started Today’s Vacuum System, Inc to focus on promoting and selling these into the marketplace

1994

After outgrowing their home office and taking over the basement, garage and dining room it was time to find new space. This is when they opened their first showroom in the Windsor Park Shopping Center enabling them to offer retail products, service/repairs and Weber gas grills.

1998

As retail was evolving and changing with new products being added to the arsenal, they decided to change the name of the business to Today’s Home & Leisure Products, Inc to better represent the newer solutions such as home theater systems, whole house audio and intercom.

1999

2nd generation gets involved. Barry’s son Michael graduated from high school and joined the company full time while taking business courses at HACC.

2005

This was the year they started to evolve into a full-blown integration company including home automation.

2008

Today’s Home Security, LLC was founded to work in coordination with Today’s Home & Leisure Products, Inc, offering alarm monitoring services for all the alarm systems that were being installed.

2012

They purchased an 11,000 sq ft building in Mechanicsburg offering an improved retail experience while providing lifestyle settings for all their custom integration products and solutions.

2022

Being in the business for 33 years, Today’s Home & Leisure Products has come a long way with Michael stepping into a partial ownership role.

2023

3rd Generation - Braden, Michael’s Son, joined the business and has been working as a full time service technician with his end goal of owning the business someday.

Under Barry’s leadership, Today’s Home & Leisure Products, Inc has expanded its footprint, strengthened strategic partnerships, and enhanced customer experience through tailored, high-quality integration services. His vision focuses on leveraging emerging technologies to create smarter, more efficient systems for commercial and residential clients alike.

Barry’s expertise in project management, system design, and team leadership has helped shape a company culture centered on excellence, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Michael Dobb

As the President of Today’s Home & Leisure Products, Inc brings 25 years of leadership and industry expertise to the low-voltage integration sector. With a passion for cutting-edge technology and a commitment to exceptional customer service Michael has guided the company to become a trusted provider of structured cabling, home automation, security systems, and audiovisual solutions.

Under Michael’s leadership, Today’s Home & Leisure Products, Inc has expanded its capabilities, embracing the latest advancements in smart technology, commercial and residential automation, and integrated security solutions. Michael’s hands-on approach ensures that every project is executed with precision, from design to installation and ongoing support.

A strong advocate for innovation and teamwork, Michael fosters a culture of excellence, empowering employees to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving industry. With a focus on client satisfaction and operational efficiency, Michael continues to drive Today’s Home & Leisure Products, Inc forward as a leader in low-voltage integration solutions.

Beyond business, family is at the heart of everything Michael does. He is happily married to Jennifer, who plays an integral role in supporting both the family and the company. Together, they are proud parents to Braden and Hailey, who keep life exciting and full of joy. When not leading the company, Michael enjoys spending quality time with family, watching Philly sports,  skiing, and creating lasting memories.

Secretary

Michele Dobb

Michele was born in Orlando, FL. Grew up in Camp Hill, PA and graduated from Camp Hill High School in 1972. She attended Harrisburg Area Community College for two years. Michele met Barry Dobb in 1974; married Barry in 1975 and moved to Ontario, Canada. She worked in the Health Insurance field most of her life. Michele and Barry have two sons, Matt & Mike. They lived in Ontario until 1990 when they moved to Cumberland County to open their business. The business opened in 1991, and Michele worked part time while working her full-time job at Pennsylvania Blue Shield. Michele started full time for Today’s Home & Leisure Products in 2003 handling all the bookkeeping, administration, and advertising. Presently, she is still working on a part time basis.

Treasurer

Jennifer Dobb

Jennifer Dobb is the Treasurer at our Low Voltage Integration company, where she brings strong organization, attention to detail, and a passion for keeping finances on track. Her dedication and steady approach play a key role in supporting the company’s day-to-day operations and long-term goals.

Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys a full and active life with her husband Michael, their two children, Braden and Hailey, and their sweet dog, Bella. She’s an avid reader, loves to crochet, and makes time to stay active through regular exercise. Jennifer’s blend of professionalism and personal warmth makes her a valued part of our team.

Operations Manager

Matt Lower

Matt is an experienced Operations Manager in the low-voltage industry, overseeing daily operations, project execution, and team coordination to ensure seamless service delivery. With a strong background in systems integration, structured cabling, and home automation, Matt works closely with technicians, project managers, and clients to maintain high-quality standards and efficient workflows.

With 19 years of experience, Matt has developed expertise in streamlining processes, improving project efficiency, and implementing best practices to enhance customer satisfaction. A results-driven leader, he focuses on optimizing resources, maintaining compliance with industry regulations, and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Committed to innovation and continuous improvement, Matt stays up to date with the latest advancements in low-voltage technology to ensure the company remains competitive in a fast-evolving industry.

Matt is a dedicated softball pitcher who thrives on competition and teamwork. When he’s not working, he’s on the “hill”, strategizing plays, and helping his team secure championships. His passion for the game and commitment to excellence make him a valuable asset both on and off the field.
